ANKARA, May 26, 2025 (WAFA) – The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Monday the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and colonists.
It also condemned in a press statement the raising of the Israeli flag at the mosque compound by a member of the Knesset, and the deliberate provocations carried out by settlers during a march in occupied Jerusalem.
The ministry added that these actions reflect Israel's ongoing policies of genocide and forced displacement against the Palestinian people, and its attempts to alter the historical and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territories and annex them.
It stressed that these desperate attempts, led by the Netanyahu government, will not succeed in changing the historical and legal status quo at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, emphasizing the need to respect the status quo in Jerusalem and to halt the repeated violations of the sanctity of holy sites.
